It’s been on and off weather in Chicago for the last few weeks but as far as this past weekend is concerned, the good weather was here to stay. To celebrate the good weather and variety of activities in Chicago, Bill and I adventured over to the newly renovated Magnificent Mile Marriott hotel and relaxed for the weekend to celebrate his birthday. There are so many hotels in Chicago, so how do you decide which one is best for you? One thing I love about the Mag Mile Marriott is its location. Location is everything and with the Marriott being on Michigan Avenue, footsteps away from the best shopping (shout out to Nordstrom) to its great restaurants (Bistronomic, Eataly and Purple Pig to name a few), you can’t go wrong.
Bill and I LOVED our Living Suite at the Marriott. You’ll see from my photos it even has a dining table, long couch and POOL TABLE. I am pretty sure I beat Bill at every game we played :). The room was fully updated, with a kitchen, flat screen tv, modern couches and sleek bathrooms. Oh and don’t think I forgot about the views! Our room had views of the lake, the river and the stunning city skyline no matter where you stood. There is something about being on the top floor of your own city that I can’t find words to describe other than it feels so new, even when I walk these same streets every day. The whole hotel recently renovated their rooms, and they are overall so cozy, clean and sleek.
In between lounging and relaxing, Bill and I walked up and down the river walk, popped into a few stores, tried a lovely array of cocktails at Rush Bar (located in the Marriott hotel) and had a great dinner at Bistronomic. Bill is a huge fan of mussels and said they were delicious along with his salmon dish and my vegetarian quinoa entree was ah-mazing. It’s one of those dishes I will absolutely get cravings for and pick up on my way home from work in the very near future. Bistronomic is a great place for a date night and the perfect spot when the rents are in town. In the morning we were treated to breakfast that was unbelievable beyond words. From the fresh fruit to avocado toast, I was in room service heaven.

All in all our staycation was a major success and special thanks to the Magnificent Mile Marriott for a lovely weekend. My Chicago summer staycation guide is shared below for all my Chicagoans!
Summer Staycation in Chicago Guide
Hotel: Chicago Mag Mile Marriott
Restaurants: Bistronomic, Purple Pig, Eataly
Activities: Walk on the river walk, go to Navy Pier, shop down Michigan Avenue (my favorite shops are Nordstrom, Burberry, Anthropologie and Forever 21)
I strongly believe there is something beautiful and adventurous staying in your very own city, taking it all in and appreciating what you have. I highly recommend taking some time for yourself, relaxing and planning a staycation in your city soon.
XO.
